Kangana Ranaut rejects Dirty Picture sequel! Find out why!

Whyy?

The movie Dirty Picture was one of the most iconic projects for Vidya Balan. It was a feather in her cap, that reiterated that she is a wonderful performer. The movie is said to be inspired by the life of Silk Smitha and the writers have also taken ideas from the stories of Marilyn Monroe and Disco Shanthi. This movie, which was released in 2011, will complete 11 years this year. The buzz now is that the Producer, Ekta Kapoor is planning on a sequel.

A source close to the production told a Media House, “Producer Ekta Kapoor has been planning a sequel to The Dirty Picture for a long time. And she has finally cracked an idea after exploring dozens of them over the years. Screenplay writer Kanika Dhillon, who’s known for writing critically-acclaimed female-led stories such as Manmarziyaan, Haseen Dillruba, Judgemental Hai Kya, and Rashmi Rocket, among others, has been brought on board to pen this film. She is writing the script along with a male writer, and is expected to finish it by year’s end. Ekta and her team at Balaji Motion Pictures are all excited about this special project, and plan to take it to the floors in the first quarter of 2023.”

In addition to saying this, the source also revealed that Kangana Ranaut was the first choice for the sequel. However, she has rejected the offer, kindly, as she doesn’t want to disturb her righteous image. If reports are to be believed, Taapsee Pannu and Kriti Sanon, are now interested to do the role. However, the Producer is waiting for the script to be completed before casting options are looked into.

Kangana, who played Jayalalithaa in Thalaivii, is now doing Emergency, which is based on the life of Indira Gandhi. The movie is about the emergency period, and is directed by Kangana herself. She is also awaiting the release of two other films, namely, Tejas and Teeku Weds Sheru, both in Hindi. She was last seen in the Hindi film Dhaakad.
