The film, which went on floors yesterday, is said to be set in the Mumbai of ’80s and ’90s with a lot of action and drama in store. Kajal has been recently brought on board and the director feels there couldn’t have been a better actress to play the role of John’s love interest in the film.
In interaction with a leading daily, Sanjay Gupta confirmed Kajal’s casting in the film “The most important thing is that my gangster films often also has strong female characters. This character starts off as John’s girlfriend then becomes his wife. So, I needed an actress who could play a 17-year-old college girl, a young wife and then, a strong woman in her 30s. I’m an admirer of Kajal’s work, she looks lovely and has a great screen presence. I’m glad we’re collaborating on this film”, he said.
On the work front, the actress will soon to be seen in Paris Paris, however, the film has not scheduled release date yet. With some interesting projects like Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan, and few Tollywood movies in pipeline, she is a promising actress.
She is currently waiting for the release of director Sudheer Varma’s upcoming film Ranarangam.
