When Jimmiki Kammal stormed into the internet, it went viral within a few days, with even late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel professing his love for the song. There’s no denying that it’ll be something the audience will ever forget and keeping it alive is filmmaker Radha Mohan. The director will include this song in his film Kaatrin Mozhi starring Jyothika, the Tamil version of the Hindi film Tumhari Sulu starring Vidya Balan.

If Vidya Balan recreated Sridevi’s ‘Hawa Hawai’ in the film, then Jyothika will recreate Mohanlal’s ‘Jimmiki Kammal’ in the Tamil version. Images from the sets of the shoot for the song were recently shared, with Jyothika and actress Lakshmi Manchu having a whale of a time. The makers have reportedly bought the official rights to the song and used it as is, as a Malayali number without remixing it.

Choreographed by Viji, the song will also feature RJ Sandra, Kumaravel and Sindhu Shyam.

Directed by Radha Mohan, the remake will release on Jyothika’s birthday, October 18. The film stars Vidhaarth as Jyothika’s husband and has Lakshmi Manchu playing Neha Dhupia’s role from the original. The Hindi film was about a housewife who longs to do something for herself and is then introduced to the world of RJing. She becomes a late night show host for a radio channel and becomes an instant hit. The film was directed by Suresh Triveni and went on to do garner much applause from critics and audience alike.

Produced by G Dhananjayan’s BOFTA Media Works, Mahesh Muthusami will crank the camera while Praveen KL will be the editor. National Award winning costume designer Poornima Ramasamy is also on board for the film, with music by AH Kaashif.
