There was a time in Tamil cinema, where only two heroines ruled. They were the only heroines who had introduction song, just like their male counterparts. These two women set amazing goals. If you take a keen look, you would notice they did not color or set their hair every time, they kept it natural, they hardly wore nail polish, they didn’t put hours of makeup and they never gave themselves to body shaming. Simran and Jyothika were superstars of the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

They didn’t hesitate to partner in a movie, even when they were queens of the Southern film industry.  They worked with every leading hero and upcoming heroes where their role was substantial. (12B for example).

If it’s of today, it is undoubtedly Kollywood’s Lady Superstar Nayanthara not because she is doing a lot of films, but she is doing films that have content that consists of substance and stature.

Jyothika complemented Nayanthara for selecting right scripts which give importance to the female lead. “After 36 Vayadhinile, it took more than 1.5 years for me to sign Magalir Mattum. I think Nayanthara is blessed to get content oriented films coming her way, she also ensures quality in each and every film,” she concluded.

Talking about her upcoming release ‘Magalir Mattum’, Jyo said, “I felt Magalir Mattum is a surprising script from Bramma.  As a man, he has rightly touched a woman’s mind”, said Jyothika, who also clarified “Though the feelings of women are dealt in the film, it’s not a feminist film. Magalir Mattum is both for men and women”.
