Badminton star Saina Nehwal is officially married to fellow player Parupalli Kashyap. The sports couple tied the knot today in a ceremony attended by close-knit people. While they never admitted it, the two were trained under Pullela Gopichand and have been dating for ten years now.

It is said that both the families had been planning the wedding for a while. Needless to say, the two have been an important part in each of their lives, with Saina even crediting him for being a huge support in her life.

Parupalli Kashyap created history by reaching the Quarterfinals of men’s singles at 2012 London Olympics, is the only male player from India to do so, at that time. At the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, he won the gold medal in men’s singles. Kashyap was the Icon Player for the Indian Badminton League team, Banga Beats in 2013 edition. Purupalli is an Arjuna award winner and ranked World No 6 in 2013.

A recipient of nation’s highest award like the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and civilian awards, including Padam Bhushan and Padam Shri, Saina is a former World No. 1 and has won several coveted titled including 23 international titles and 10 Superseries titles. She was the World No. 2 in 2009 and became the World No. 1 in 2015. Some of her big achievements are the gold she won at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and 2018 and an Olympic Bronze in 2012.
