Jockeys who went on to become film stars!

Most stars appear out of nowhere (Pun intended) but these stars were in quite the proximity before making it big in films. Here’s a list of actors and actress who started as a Radio or Video Jockey before hitting the big screen! You will never guess the last one!

  1. Sivakarthikeyan

Kicking off this list us our favourite Sivakarthikeyan of course! With the success of Ethir Neechal, he proved he was more than just a comedian and we can agree with his Velaikkaran getting rave reviews!

2. RJ Balaji

Balaji is so renowned as an RJ that we still call him with the same moniker. Although he got his big break in Vada Curry his best performance was in Naanum Rowdy Thaan. We wish to see more of this actor and of course hear more of him too!

3. VJ Ramya

Ramya Subramaniam fondly known as VJ Ramya got her big break in O Kadhal Kanmani. Well known for her stint in Star Vijay we wish to see more of this talented actress on the big screen.

4. Shiva

He started his career in Radio and is still known as Mirchi Shiva to most! With the success of Chennai 600028 and Vanakkam Chennai, he is now known as a bankable actor in the comedy genre. His new movie Kalakalappu 2 is coming out soon!

5. Suchi

Before Mirchi Suchi was dragged through the mud in scandals recently her voice was one the entire state woke up to. She later went on to do Ayutha Yezhuthu and Bale Pandiya in 2010. Though nothing has worked since in the acting space for her, her voice is still one of the most sought after for commercials and playback singing all around.

6. Trisha & Gayathri Jayaram

Although we first saw a glimpse of Trisha in the movie Jodi, many do not know that she actually started off as a VJ in the Television show Telephone Mani Pol! A caller show for music videos, the earlier VJ for the show had been Gayathri Jayaram who left to get into movies with her debut in Manathai Thirudi Vittai. Trisha later went to movies herself and now you know how big the diva has grown!
