JFW Awards 2016 – Celebrating The Spirit Of Success!

South India’s leading women’s magazine, JFW hosted its 8 th edition of the prestigious awards ‘ JFW Awards 2016’ on 22 nd December, 2016 in honor of the women achievers in different fields of expertise. The event was powered by Kamadhenu Jewellery in association with Lakshmi Vilas Bank and At Home Diva by Quickr.

 

 

“JFW is proud to have initiated these awards as a way to recognize and appreciate the success of South Indian women who have made a mark in their chosen fields. With stellar names as awardees, our JFW awards is an inspiration for many young women to pursue their goals and reach the heights of success in whatever they do.” says Bina Sujit, the editor of JFW.

 

 

Musical prodigies Sharanya Srinivas and Uthara Unnikrishnan gave a melodious performance at the opening of the event.

 

 

The awards were presented by celebrities like Directors Vetri Maran, Gautam Menon, Vishnu Vardhan, actresses Khushbu, Amala Akineni, Saranya Ponvanan, Venkat Prabhu, Charan, Aravind Akash, Vijay Vasanth, Nithin Sathya from the Chennai 28 team, Actor Madhavan, Singer Srinivas, who graced the occasion with their presence among others.

 

Award for Excellence in Social Service

The event kickstarted with the award for ‘Excellence in Social Service’, which was given to social activist Sunitha Krishnan, by Madhavan and Amala Akkineni.

 

Award for Special Recognition

Actress Trisha was given a special recognition for her journey in the film industry as a successful actress for a period of 14 years! The award was given by director Gautham Vasudev Menon and Vinod Sharma, the head of Kamadenu Jewellery.

 

Award for Excellence in Choreography

Choreographer Brindha, popularly known as ‘Brindha Master’ was awarded for ‘Excellence in Choreography’ by veteran actress and Brindha’s best friend Kushboo.

 

Award for Excellence in Public Service

Chennai Fire Station Director Priya Ravichandran was awarded for ‘Excellence in Public Service’ for her priceless service to the public as an officer. Director Vishnu Vardhan honoured the bold woman.

Award for Excellence in Music

Carnatic singer Padma Bhushan Sudha Raghunathan was awarded for ‘Excellence in Music’ for her immeasurable devotion to music. She was honoured by Srinivas and NS Venkatesh, the executive director of Lakshmi Vilas Bank.

Award for Excellence in Costume Design

Anu Vardhan, popularly known for her recent work in Kabali was awarded for ‘Excellence in Costume Design’ by actress cum fashion designer Saranya Ponvannan.

Award for Excellence in Sports

Mithali Raj, the Indian Women’s Cricket team captain was awarded by the team of Chennai 28 II for ‘Excellence in Sports’.

Newsmaker of the year

PV Sindhu was awarded as the ‘Newsmaker of the year’ for the consecutive victories she has brought home this year. As the sports star is busy with her practice, she addressed the gathering in a video byte.

Award for Special Recognition

Taapsee Pannu was awarded with ‘Special Recognition’ for her remarkable work in the Hindi film ‘PINK’ which took the nation in storm. She was honoured by director Vetrimaran who introduced her to Kollywood in ‘Aadukalam’ and Bina Sujit, the editor-in-chief of JFW Magazine.

The star-studded awards night took place at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao concert hall in Chetpet. Women from all walks of life had come to witness the women achievers being recognised for their excellence.
