In her 2017 cover with JFW just a few months before she was set to tie knot with the love of her life, she spoke about her wedding and her love to Chay. Here are the extracts from the interview
“Yes, the wedding date has been confirmed and fixed on October 6th. We are not having a wedding in Hyderabad as speculated. The wedding will be in Goa and it is going to be a small one with family and close friends. This is a middle-class wedding, very unlike of what is being construed. There is no elaborate programme followed by a honeymoon to Europe (chuckles). Both of us have to get back to work in three days after the wedding.”
“I would like to take this up as a very important challenge to break the myth that married heroines cannot act; married heroines will not have fame and the success that they had before marriage.”
A default expectation among fans is that they may not be able to see their favourite leading lady as frequently after marriage as before. Here’s Sam take on this: “I love challenges and I have faced challenges my entire life. Nothing has come easy for me and I would like to take this up as a very important challenge to break the myth that married actresses cannot act; married female stars will not have fame and the success that they had before marriage. I want to see how far I can take this.” She adds on with fervor, “ I also give the industry due credit because, not many actresses marry at this age; most of them choose to get married much later on when they probably decided to hang their boots up. This is one of the reasons why I chose to get married at the heights of my career; I really want to break that myth. In fact, I really don’t think much will change after my marriage, since people already feel I’m married and I am doing films now!”
“I was nothing before I met him. He opened up a whole new world to me.”
Chay and Sam have been in a relationship spanning over seven years before their engagement in January 2017. “There are too many of them. Our relationship is not just about the fact that we met and fell in love; it has been a whole journey. I was nothing before I met him. He opened up a whole new world to me, and was right beside through my difficult days. So if you ask me for my fondest memories, I would say the last seven years!”
