I Will Not Play Jayalalithaa!: Keerthy Suresh

On a biopic-signing spree?

After receiving appreciation for her performance as late actress Savitri in Mahanati (Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil), talks have been doing the rounds that Keerthy Suresh is all set to play late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa in a biopic. However, turns out, it was all rumours!

According to The Times of India, Keerthy visited Thirupathi to pray for her success and when asked if she would play the former CM, she refuted the rumours asserting that she hasn’t signed any biopic.

She has also gone on record to say that she wouldn’t do biopics anymore even though they might be fun because eventually, the sole responsibility falls on her performance. Speaking to Silverscreen, she said:

“A biopic is no easy task. While it takes a great deal of effort from the entire team, for me as an actor, the experience was quite gruelling and emotionally disturbing at times.”

Meanwhile, Keerthy’s Mahanati has grossed over $1.5 million at the US box office alone. The film’s performance in India is equally steady, say trade analysts. The film, directed by Nag Ashwin, is about the late Tamil/Telugu actress Savitri and her colourful and turbulent life as an artist, as a wife to actor Gemini Ganesan, and as someone who suffered from depression and alcoholism. The film also stars Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha Akkineni, Vijay Deverakonda, and Prakash Raj.

Her future projects include Saamy Square with Vikram, directed by Hari. Keerthy plays Sandhya, a romantic interest to Vikram’s character. The film’s motion poster will be out soon. She also has Sandakozhi 2 in the pipeline, starring alongside Vishal Krishna. Directed by N Lingusamy, the film will be a sequel to his 2005 film Sandakozhi. She will soon make an announcement with respect to another film of hers soon!
