High speed car crash kills Hyderabad University student

Police suspect drunk driving led to the tragedy

Ananya Goel a female student of Hyderabad Central University was killed along with two techies who were injured in a car crash on Outer Ring Road on the city outskirts, yesterday. Ananya, Nikhita, and Nitin, who were celebrating Nitin’s birthday, were shited to the hospital upon the accident where Ananya was declared DOA and the other two had sustained serious injuries but were saved by wearing seat belts. Police said the car was being driven at a high speed and this led to the accident. They registered a case and were investigating. A native of Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli, Ananya was pursuing MA at HCU when the tragedy occurred. “Blood samples of the injured have been collected to determine whether they had consumed liquor,” an investigating officer told reporters. A case has been registered against the driver under sections 304A (Causing death by negligence) and 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC.
