HERE IT IS: The First Look Of Samantha Akkineni’s Jaanu, A Remake Of Trisha’s 96!

Can’t wait to see what Samantha looks like!

Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha’s romantic drama 96, being one of the most successful Tamil movies in recent years, will be remade in Telugu, with Samantha and Sharwanand playing the lead roles. The film will be directed by C Prem Kumar, who was the mind behind the original and will be titled Jaanu, after the iconic female leads name. Both the title and the first look featuring Sharwanand were revealed on Tuesday by Sri Venkateswara Creations’ official twitter handle too much fanfare.

Samantha had also shared the first look to her fans from her twitter handle, saying “Another special film and a role that has challenged me to be better than I was yesterday…(sic),”. Her portions of the film have already been shot. Much of 96’s charm will be kept in the remake, with the same director-composer duo, C Prem Kumar and Govind Vasantha respectively, who captivated Tamil audiences also working on Jaanu. Fans can, therefore, expect the same heartwarming visuals and beautiful melodies that made the original such a smash hit.

Samantha had only a singular Tamil release last year with the movie of the year candidate Super Deluxe but had a further two releases in Tollywood with Majili, where she starred opposite husband Naga Chaitanya in their first collaboration after their wedding, and the hit comedy Oh! Baby. Jaanu is her only announced release of 2020.

Sharwanand, on the other hand, has 3 releases including Jaanu to be released this year, the others being Keeravani and Sreekaram. This is following his successful 2019 movie Ranarangam, in which he starred alongside Kajal Aggarwal. Jaanu will be Samantha and Sharwanand’s first movie together, and fans of the two actors can expect to know about the release date soon.
