Happy Teachers Day: 6 Amazing Teachers To Remember From Kollywood!

It’s teacher’s day! One of those days, we all spare our teachers from their never-ending struggle with us. Jokes apart. Teachers are someone to be worth celebrated, not only the ones who teach us at school and college but everyone who has taught us something in life. Books, Movies, Series, Friends, Family, some unknown stranger, each one of us has a unique set of teachers who made us who we are today. On that note, we went on a quick flashback to see all the wonderful teachers from Tamil cinema. These actors not only portrayed their role well but also gave us something to think about, they taught.

Nammavar

Kamal Hassan is famous for playing unconventional roles. His role as a teacher in Nammavar was no different. He played the role of a vice-principal of a college. He saves his college students from becoming anti-social elements. There is so much to learn from this movie and from the teacher.

Ramana

Easily Captain’s best movie ever. For us, 90’s kids, the captain was the person who knew his country. Remember the statistics dialogue? This movie did not only influence Tamil audience, but also other language movie makers. It was remade in Telugu as Tagore and in Kannada as Vishnu Sena. Vijayakanth played the role of a college professor, who rebels against the corruption with the help of his students.

Saattai

One of the most responsible school movies ever made. Samuthirakani played the lead role in the movie. He is a government schoolteacher, who is unhappy with the inequality between the private and government schools education system. The movie with its powerful dialogues delivered great by Samuthirakani sure whipped the society.

Nanban

Sathya Raj played the role of Virus, the principal in this 3- Idiots remake. Though he was annoying at times, like every teacher in college, he did give the boys wonderful lessons. He challenged them to shine and so they did. Also, he was one of those best teachers who was always ready to learn and accept their mistakes.

Irudhi Suttru

The movie’s take on sports in India, especially women’s sports in India was brilliant. Madhavan played the role of a determined coach who knew how to train the talents of the country. The movie, especially Madhavan’s character taught us to trust the right teacher who recognizes our talent.

Kaaka Kaaka

Female teachers are always like second mothers, at least to girls. With the right teacher, we open up and share everything. Though some teachers these days scold a child for menstruating, Jo’s role in Kaaka Kaaka was different. She was a friend to every one of her students, helped them when they had stalking issues and above all, let them dance in her apartment. She sure was one amazing teacher.
