In what is being looked at as a monumentally epic move, the Vishakapatnam Railways this week launched ‘Subhadra Vahini’, a special team comprising of only women as security personnel deployed from the Railway Protection Force and Commercial Department. This move comes with the sole purpose of tackling any inconvenience women passengers may have been subjected to in the past.
A joint venture between the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Waltair Division’s Commercial Department, the team consists of 32 members, with an equal number of ticket checking staff and RPF personnel.

That’s not all! This team is also social media friendly, with a Facebook page and a Twitter page being launched at the same time. If a passenger needs to report a complaint, you can simply call the toll-free number 182 to seek assistance.
According to The News Minute, the team has begun work already conducting thorough searches at Visakhapatnam railway station and have even apprehended 10 male passengers travelling in women’s coaches.
