Hearty Congratulations!

Many actors, directors, singers and others from the film fraternity have won these awards for their contribution to the field. 119 people were awarded with this honour, this year. The award ceremony was for 2020 and 2021 awardees.

Late Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam was awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously. His son SP Charan went to Delhi to receive this award on behalf of the singer and said that the last time they went, his father was receiving the Padma Bhushan. “We are grateful to the government of India for having honoured dad with this award. This actually feels surreal. We expected this to happen when dad was around. It’s a moment of mixed emotion for us,” said Charan.

Apart from SPB, Singer Chithra won the Padma Bhushan. KS Chithra already won the Padma Shri for her contributions in Singing back in 2005. Now, she has won the Padma Bhushan in 2021. Chithra is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated singers of South India and has sung many duets along with SPB.
