EXCLUSIVE: Here’s How Vijay Sethupathi Is Preparing For His Next As Muttiah Muralidharan!

Yet another feather to the cap for VJS!

From an old man to a transgender, Vijay Sethupathi has donned many versatile roles in his career. His recent 96 was so loved that no remake could replace a Ram like Sethupathi. Adding a feather to his versatile cap, Vijay Sethupathi is all set to don the role of Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralidharan in his biopic. Written and directed by MS Sripathy, the film is touted to be titled 800. The number of wickets the bowler has taken in Tests is till date the highest in history.

Talking to the media about the same, Muttiah stated, “We are looking at a late 2020 release. I am honoured that an accomplished actor such as Vijay Sethupathi will be playing me in the film. I have been actively collaborating with the creative team for the past several months and I will continue to support this project.”

Vijay Sethupathi also added that it would indeed be a challenge to portray the role. He stated, “I am happy to be associated with the Muttiah Muralitharan biopic, he is an iconic sportsman of Tamil origin & someone who’s made his mark across the world. Portraying the role of Murali is going to be a challenge for me & I’m looking forward to it. I’m delighted that Murali himself will be closely involved with the project & guiding me on the cricketing aspects. I am thankful to both Murali & the producers for the faith bestowed on me.”

On asking if he has any cricketing experience, a source close to the actor told TEAM JFW, “He is always the captain of the Nadigarsangam team. We’ve seen him hit sixes at the Chepauk Stadium. However, preparations will begin in full swing for him for mastering the historic Muttiah leg spin.”

On the professional front, Sethupathi has Sanga Tamizhan, Laabam and Kadaisi Vivaysayi.
