With an astounding number of 300 films to her credit, she broke records with her versatility. She was the true icon in the 80s, with a career that span across two decades. Her journey into the world of acting began with Thoorpu Padamara at a tender age. She began her acting career in the fore mentioned Telugu movie and swiftly ventured into Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi cinema. Alongside her extraordinary acting prowess, she was popular for her fashion sensibilities too. She was celebrated as a fashion trendsetter. Her looks from her various films became popular including the sexy sarong in Azhage Azhagu to her bikini in the movie Tik Tik Tik, she was the epitome of style and grace. Her roles were versatile and she aced every one of them. She rocked a simple cotton saree with equal panache as a two-piece swimsuit. Her filmography is incredible, let’s look at a few movies that had a major impact on her life and the audience as well:

Telugu

Her first movie was a Telugu language film directed by Narayana Rao. She was the lead and with the success of that film, her career took flight. She acted alongside actor Chiranjeevi in 1982 in the film Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya. The movie Khaidi was one of the biggest hits and the on-screen pair, her and Chiranjeevi got a lot of accolades for it.

Tamil

Her debut in Tamil movies was with superstar Rajinikanth in Thillu Mullu. The movie Raja Parvai, where she was paired opposite Kamal Haasan was a love story. She regards this one as one of her all-time favourite roles for it brought out the best in her while in the presence of geniuses. A spectacular success, the movie Thambikki Enda Ooru starred her and Rajinikanth in the lead.

Malayalam

In Aakasha Doothu, she played an ailing mother who wanted to make sure her children got the best even after she passes away. In an emotional and challenging role, she gave one of her finest performances in that film and also won a Filmfare award for the same. Even though Malayalam isn’t her mother tongue, she did a number of films in the language with actors Mammootty and Mohanlal. Her role as Unniyarcha in the national award-winning movie Oru Vadakkalur Veeragadha was critically acclaimed.

Hindi

Agnipath, Ek Duje Ke Liye, Swarg, Geraftaar are just a few of her films from Hindi Cinema. She worked with big Bollywood actors namely Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Govinda etc. Her acting prowess is incredible. She did lead roles, supporting roles, small roles, just about everything that helped her ace her acting chops.

She got married in 1996 to Ralph Sharma who stayed in the US. Maadhavi is a follower of spiritual leader Swami Rama, who introduced her to her husband. She is a proud mother to three daughters, Tiffany, Priscilla and Evelyn. Her daughters are a reflection of her and her husband, Ralph in appearance as well as personality. She defines her journey from a movie star to full-time mother to now a businesswoman as the most rewarding experience of her life.
