The interview created quite a stir and many anticipated that the director of the film AR Murugadoss would reciprocate. He finally did and here’s what he had to say:
“Just because I like or dislike a character or a person, I cannot reduce or extend a role. Sometimes, we have given the actors, whom we do not like very much, good characters, and our favourites might have gotten small roles. It’s not in our hands.” He further added that there were times when he was forced to cut down scenes of his favourite actors and that there are times when he has been left with no choice.
The actress talked about how she regretted doing the role of Chitra in Suriya starrer ‘Ghajini’. She further added that the decision to do this role in ‘Ghajini’ was the worst decision of her career. She said that the character, when narrated to her, was a world different from what was actually shown onscreen. She believed that her role would be as sensible as the female lead.
Ever since she added that she has been extremely careful when choosing roles especially multi-starrers. She has apparently also made it a point to listen to scripts more carefully.
She also stated that she had her doubts and second thoughts when she chose to do P Vasu’s ‘Chandramukhi’ and a song with Vijay in ‘Sivakasi’. However, she said that it was a great break in her career as these films performed really well.
Nayanthara is awaiting the release of her three next films namely Darbar, Netri Kann produced by Vignesh Shivan and Mookuthi Amman alongside RJ Balaji.
Darbar has Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Nivetha Thomas and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. The film will be produced by Lyca Productions and directed by AR Murugadoss. The music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
