Actors Dileep and Kavya tied the knot in 2016. The two had been friends and colleagues for a long time. Their marriage function was modest and attended by the duo’s close friends and relatives, with a reception held in Dubai later.
Dileep (50), one of the leading stars and producers in Malayalam cinema, was earlier married to actress-danseuse Manju Warrier in 1998 but their marriage ended in 2014, after which Manju returned to films as a lead actress.
Kavya was also previously married. In 2009, she had married Nishal Chandra, a Kuwait-based banker. They were divorced a year later. She later returned to films with Paappi Appacha, a movie produced by and starring Dileep.
Link-ups of their romantic relationship did the rounds long before they tied the knot. Post their wedding, Kavya was subjected to a lot of trolls and hate online as she was branded as the “other woman” who had dissolved Dileep’s first marriage.
In September, it was announced that Kavya was set to give birth in the following month. Pictures from her adorable baby shower did the rounds too.
Meanwhile, Dileep has been the cynosure of all eyes in the Malayalam film industry ever since he was identified as the 8th accused in the infamous abduction and sexual assault of a popular Malayalam actress. The decision to reinstate Dileep in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) also received a lot of flak and four actresses including the sexual assault victim quit AMMA over the same. Kavya’s name had also figured several times in the case.
