Dhanush, Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar starrer Atrangi Re was announced at the beginning of this year. However the shooting came to a pause in the month of March due to the Covid19 lockdowns. With things slowly starting to pick up and with relative ‘unlocks’ the director has now announced that the shooting will resume in the month of October in Madurai. He said that the shooting will be a organised and that they will be following physical distancing guidelines. However, they are continuing to shoot outdoors and not in studios so as to not compromise the quality of the movie.

After Madurai, the film will be shot for a month in Delhi and Mumbai with Akshay Kumar.

Dhanush is enjoying a stellar start to the new decade. The actor celbrated his birthday yesterday.  Earlier this year,  Sara Ali Khan announced to her 17.5 million Instagram followers that she will be sharing the big screen with not only the star actor but also Bollywood A Lister Akshay Kumar in a movie titled Atrangi De.

Captioned on a picture featuring the three, Sara Ali Khan wrote “I can’t believe my luck. As shown in her tweet, the film not only features one heavyweight of South Indian cinema, but two as the music will be composed by the legendary A.R. Rahman.

The movie was initially planned to be released on  2021 Valentine’s Day movie and would marks Dhanush’s return to Bollywood after Balki’s 2015 satire Shamitabh, and his third overall. After the release of Pattas, he has two hugely anticipated films releasing later this year; the Karthik Subbaraj directed fantasy film Suruli, and the Mari Selvaraj project Karnan.
