The master filmmaker has made classics like Children of Heaven (1997), The Color of Paradise (1999) and Baran (2001). Of late, the Iranian filmmaker has showed interest in collaborating with Indian artists. His 2015 feature Muhammad: The Messenger of God was scored by AR Rahman. Majid Majidi is all set to direct a Hindi film, and Deepika was doing the look test for that.
Majid Majidi’s film will be a new feather in Deepika’s cap. The actress is already on a high after all her recent Bollywood projects were blockbusters and she is also awaiting the release of her Hollywood debut, XXX: Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel.
A source close to the filmmaker says, ‘Majidi will go back to Iran in a few days and then come back in December. He will start shooting for the film roughly in mid-December and will be in India for 2-3 months to finish the film. The filmmaker will be shooting the film in parts of Rajasthan, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh. He had also gone to Lonavala for a recce but he apparently didn’t like the place much. Deepika has not yet been finalized for the project.’
