Congress president Sonia Gandhi has been hospitalized due to food poisoning and should be out of the hospital in another two days. The Congress leader has been admitted to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi. Hospital chairman DS Rana said the 70-year-old, who was admitted on Sunday, is better and will be discharged today. From her hospital bed, Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday called West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Trinamool Congress chief is expected to be in Delhi on May 16 to meet her.

Sonia Gandhi has been away from the public and the media for quite a long time now. As presidential elections are nearing, the Modi government has planned to bring in a fresh face as a result of which the two women leaders are conducting the above-mentioned meeting. In March, she had returned from the US where she had gone for medical treatment. The party has not revealed anything about her medical condition, said a report in NDTV.

According to various reports, Sonia Gandhi has been conducting a lot of informal meetings with the opposition Party regarding the consideration of Rahul Gandhi as the President.
