CONFIRMED: Priyamani To Sport The Role Of Sasikala In AL Vijay’s Thalaivi!

An exciting role indeed!

Priyamani was last seen donning an exciting role in the famous web series The Family Man on Amazon Prime. The series has been receiving raving reviews and Priyamani is being critically acclaimed for her role. But, also when it comes to the choice of films, she equally wise about choosing some great roles too. Priyamani clearly knows what she deserves and has hiked her remuneration accordingly. Her next role is rather interesting. A character so mysterious that many wish to know what was even the motive behind this real-life person.

Director AL Vijay is currently busy shooting Thalaivi, a biopic on former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and a top actress of her times, J. Jayalalithaa. Kangana Ranaut’s first look as Jayalalithaa was released early last month. As the curiosity increases, another addition to the star cast has been announced – Priyamani who would be donning the role of the mysterious Sasikala and her influence in the late CM’s life.

The team only recently released the first look and the teaser of the film which has received rather mixed reviews. While some like Kangana’s transformation, some feel that it all looks too artificial. A source close to the team reported, “Kangana Ranaut and the team are presently filming some important portions of the film in Mumbai. Priya Mani will be joining the team soon.”

We are excited to watch Priyamani take up yet another exciting role.

It was only recently when the Paruthiveeran actress talked about the equality the actresses have fought to bring about in the film industry. During her recent press interaction, the actress was quoted saying, “It’s beautiful and stunning to sit back and take note of how our girls are bold and unabashedly honest about their journeys. On the one hand, I think it’s commendable because, in all honesty, MeToo is not restricted to the film industry or showbiz. While I am not vouching for it, all I’m trying to say is that the occurrence could literally be around us – at homes, in universities, software offices, MNCs, call centers and everywhere else. People need to be sensitized to the issue, but I would also urge everyone not to be gullible while listening to stories. The impact has been so powerful that men don’t really flirt anymore.”

The Thalaivi biopic will see Kangana play the lead while Arvind Swamy will don the role of actor and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.G. Ramachandran. The film is touted to release next year and will be multilingual.
