In a shocking turn of events, actor Suriya starrer Soorarai Potru directed by Sudha Kongara will skip theatrical release and instead will release on OTT platform. The film is all set to premiere on Amazon Prime worldwide. The movie was looking for an April release, however, due to the lockdown imposed, the theatrical release has been cancelled.

The official Twitter handle of Amazon Prime Video announced the news on Ganesh Chaturthi. The post read, “Fasten your seat belts everyone, #SooraraiPottruOnPrime premiering October 30!”

This is the third popular film that has confirmed its OTT release during the lockdown. The first was Ponmagal Vandhal which featured Suriya’s wife and actress Jyothika in the lead. Followed by Keerthy Suresh’s Penguin produced by Karthik Subbaraj.

Soorarai Pottru stars Aparna Balamurali and Suriya Sivakumar in the lead.
