Breaking: Rajinikanth’s Film With Karthik Subbaraj Titled ‘Petta’!

See the first look too!!

The titled of Rajinikanth’s film with Karthik Subbaraj, which was tentatively titled ‘Thalaivar 165’ has been officially titled Petta! The film’s first-look motion poster is out and features Rajinikanth looking rather different, almost similar to his avatar in Linga, with a dyed beard and a mass entry.

It’s hard to say what this film would be about but it appears to be a lighthearted one and pandering to Rajini fans, something that Karthik had confessed being one.

Produced by Sun Network, the superstar is working Karthik Subbaraj for the first time, hinting that the announcement of his political party will probably not come anytime soon. The cast also includes Vijay Sethupathi, who is collaborating with Subbaraj for the fourth time. Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also a part of the project and had recently shared an image of himself on the sets of the film.

As for the female leads, the film stars Simran Bagga and Trisha Krishnan. This collaboration is a first for Simran and Rajinikanth, considering she has been paired with various other popular male actors apart from him in the past.

At the peak of her career, Simran rocked as an actress whether it was Vaali or Kanathil Muthamitaal. After her marriage in 2003, the roles significantly dwindled. She made special and guest appearances in a few Tamil films but then again, it’s hard to watch her getting sidelined when she clearly deserves the lead! In Vaaranam Aayiram, she had transitioned towards mother roles and there’s nothing more disappointing considering she wasn’t too old back then. She continued to make guest appearances, even in last year’s Thupparivaalan. However, there’s hope in Dhruva Natchathiram and Seema Raja and we hope makers treat her with well-written roles.

As for Trisha, this is also a first for her. It was earlier speculated that Deepika Padukone or Anjali would be paired with the actor. Much like Simran, Trisha has worked with all the prominent stars in Kollywood including Kamal Hassan and Ajith. In the past, she had expressed her interest to work with actor Rajinikanth. She last featured in the film Mohini, wherein she played a dual role. The film was subjected to negative to mixed reviews. Her next film is ’96’ with actor Vijay Sethupathi. She has a few other projects in the pipeline including Garjanai – the Tamil remake of the Hindi film NH10 and Sathuranga Vettai 2 with Arvind Swami.
