While she did confirm the same, she didn’t mention if the project will be Indian 2. Incidentally, Nayanthara was rumoured to have signed on for the project but there’s no clarity on the same if she’s still part of it or not.
Kamal and filmmaker Shankar will be uniting for the project after a very long time and the film is taken on by Lyca Productions. A multi-lingual, music will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, replacing A R Rahman who was unable to schedule dates for the project. Kamal will reprise the role of freedom fighter cum vigilante Senapathy, who was fondly known as ‘Indian Thatha’.
Other actors who have since signed on to be a part of the project are Dulquer Salman and Ajay Devgn. It appears that Bollywood actors appearing in Tamil films seem to be the flavour this season. Nana Patekar featured in an important role as the villain in Rajinikanth’s Kaala, and so has Akshay Kumar in Shankar’s 2.0. Now, Ajay Devgn is all set to star in Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, the sequel to the 1996 film. While Kamal will play the vigilante old man named Senapathi, Devgn will play an important role.
As for Dulquer’s inclusion in the project, unconfirmed sources have said that while the actor has been approached, it hasn’t been confirmed by him or the makers.
Kamal Haasan, who has forayed into politics launching his party Makkal Needhi Maiyam, has Sabhash Naidu, a spin-off on theDasavatharam character Balram Naidu, to finish. His film Vishwaroopam 2 is all set to release in August and he is also periodically shooting for Vijay TV’s reality show Bigg Boss Tamil 2.
Meanwhile, Kajal Aggarwal apart from Kavacham, has Paris Paris in the pipeline. The film is the Tamil remake of the popular 2015 Bollywood film Queen that starred Kangana Ranaut. The film, a female-oriented film, is about the essence of a lone woman heading out on a journey of self-discovery and fun!
