It appears that Bollywood actors appearing in Tamil films seem to be the flavour this season. Nana Patekar featured in an important role as the villain in Rajinikanth’s Kaala, and so has Akshay Kumar in Shankar’s. Now, Ajay Devgn is all set to star in Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, the sequel to the 1996 film. While Kamal will play the vigilante old man named Senapathi, Devgn will play an important role.

Incidentally, Devgn’s wife, Kajol, too appeared in a Tamil movie last year, playing an important role in Dhanush’s VIP 2.

It is reported that the pre-production work of Indian 2 is happening in a full swing and the shoot will commence by the end of this year. Jayamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravanakumar are working on the dialogues of of the film. Directed by Shankar, the original was about a 70-year-old freedom fighter turned vigilante against corruption with Haasan playing the father and son.

Indian, which had music by A.R Rahman, was released in Telugu as Bharatheeyudu and in Hindi as Hindustani. The film also starred Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar, and had won three National awards including the best actor honour for Haasan.
