Bigg Boss Weekend: Let’s Not Do To Julie What Gayathri And Sakthi Did To Oviya!

The weekend got fun for me because it was Bigg Boss and I wanted to watch it for two reasons – Oviya and the eviction. Everyone was eager to know the fate of Bigg Boss’s strongest contestant Oviya and what had she decided to do. Finally, the moment of truth arrived and Oviya decided to leave the house for her own good. She left that place not bidding adieu to one single soul including Snehan and Aarav – the people she trusted the most. However, I could empathize with her. After all, they were also a part of her depression and anxiety.

What confused me was, why was everyone talking nice about her after she left? Well, they never treated her right while she stayed in the house. How has this “groupism” still not been realized by the ones inside the house yet? Gayathri and Sakthi initially made Bharani’s life miserable followed by Oviya’s and not one single contestant realized it yet?

We did, didn’t we? Hence, the worth of a person was felt only after she left and I’m sure if she left through eviction even this emotion wouldn’t have been visible. It’s because she was unwell, was there some sympathy and pity but not the love which was the only thing Oviya wanted as told by Snehan. Do people realize the value of someone/repent for what they’ve done only once they’ve left? I’ve noticed this in many humans.

While we discussed mental illness last week, today it’s time to talk about the same but for a different contestant. Yes, it’s about Juliana or Julie one of the most hated contestants in the Bigg Boss House. She has done some of the nastiest things we would have ever seen. She backstabbed those that stood by her and befriended those that backstabbed her. However, what we must start realizing now is the life of her post-Bigg Boss. She is a 23-year-old immature, young woman from a village who has come with dreams of getting into the media industry.

We all, as an audience, must give her a second chance to learn, to grow, to be honest, and most of all, learn to be good. I read this rather interesting message that has been doing the rounds. Shenbagaraj Ganesalingam, a musician from Chennai put up this beautiful message that made a lot of sense: it basically spoke the hard-hitting reality.

The message reads, “Okay, I found Julie irritating too. I never liked her too. But when she walked out of the stage last night, I was literally sitting right there. The helpless look on her face I’ll never forget. For all that she has done on the show, we have voted her out. It’s done. She has a life to live now. Most importantly, she doesn’t have the kind of shield that every other contestant has in the outside world. She doesn’t have many things to fall back into. She is from a very ordinary family and is obviously not mature enough to handle this kind of hatred.”

“Yes, we love Oviya and we hate Julie. But every day we forgive our friends, our brothers, even our enemies. Hell, we forgive the damn politicians who make our life miserable. Let’s not do to Julie what Gayathri and Shakthi did to Oviya. This is very important as this resentment is the kind of thing that push people into depression and worse. We all learn from our mistakes. Let’s wish Julie the best. Live and let live!”

I was quite adamant about meeting Julie and giving her a tight slap until I read this message which made a lot of sense. Life is all about giving second chances and at some point in our lives we will not even want to talk about her. Ignorance is always better than discouragement. She is starting her journey and starting with so much negativity will never help her character grow for better.

A little bit about the mastermind: Kamal Haasan

Initially, I had this doubt about Kamal’s hosting skills. I was confused whether or not he’d be able to pull this off. In the very first episode, he sort of looked uncomfortable too but it all requires time to look as magnificent as he is today. It is a given now that his hosting skills are marvelous but what makes him more ideal is his justification. He is not biased, he is clear, he talks what the audience wants to say and he brings the right answer out of them (contestants)using his wordplay skills be in “hallucinating” or our recent favorite “Maruthuva Mutham”.

His use of the word “Maruthuva Mutham (medical kiss)” for Aarav is currently trending. He also made Aarav tell the truth to everyone (although we saw him not wanting to tell it at all). Aarav had initially proved that he never kissed Oviya but Kamal knew just how to make him accept it because if not, a “kurumpadam” (short film) will be played to prove the point. Be it Gayathri or be it Sakthi, Kamal had the right questions to ask.

He made Julie realize the worth of the people she deteriorated her character for and he also requested the audience to only let her go without knowing how much hate was waiting for her outside. It was truly a goosebumps moment when the audience shouted, “Only for you sir.”
