Gomathi beat Kazakhstan’s Margarita Mukasheva and China’s Wang Chunyu at an all-time record of 2 minutes and 2.70 seconds. Her previous best (2:03.21) was the golden run at the Federation Cup at Patiala recently and she just broke her own record as well.
“I did not realise till I crossed the finish line that I have won a gold medal. The last 150m was very tight race,” said Gomathi. This stunning woman is a proud part of Tamil Nadu, her family hails from Trichy.

Further to that, 24-year-old Tejinderpal Singh Toor broke his personal best of 20.75m at first round throw of the Shot Put final and did a suave 20.22m and won his gold for India.
