The former Editor in Chief of Times Now feels that Republic TV stands for journalistic independence. Republic TV will do stories without any fear. “We will bust many ugly truths,” vows Arnab on his channel.
The channel is to be made available in Hotstar, Star India’s online streaming service. This is the first time a news channel is to partner with an online streaming service. According to Arnab, the partnership will ensure people can get news on the go.
“We are confident of breaking the digital barrier and believe this is the first step as news produced in India goes digital and then global. We believe the coming together of these two exciting brands and services will take the news to the 90 million plus viewers on Hotstar every month,” says Arnab Goswami.
The channel has partnered with Microsoft and has people like Anupam Kher as part of its crew. Republic TV is part of ARG Outlier Media Private Limited. The main investors of the channel are Asianet News Online Private Limited and SARG Media Holding Private Limited, owned by Arnab Goswami himself.
Republic Tv will be available as a free to air channel. For those with set top boxes, it will be available on TataSky – channel no. 616, Airtel Digital TV – 376, Videocon d2h – 360 and DishTV – 771.
