Aparna Balamurali and Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli bag National Awards!

Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara received great appreciation and many awards when it released back in 2020. Now, even as the 68th National Film Awards are out, Aparna Balamurali and Suriya have bagged national awards for their performances in the film.

While Aparna has received the Best Actress award for playing Bommi in the film, Suriya has won Best Actor for playing Nedumaaran Rajangam. The National Award in India is considered the most prestigious award for the entire film fraternity. Apart from them, Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli has won the Best supporting actress for Vasanth’s Sivaranjiniyum Inum Sila Pengalum.

The Best Tamil film was also bagged by Sivaranjiniyum Inum Sila Pengalum, which also won the award for best editing. GV Prakash won the award for Best Music Direction, again for Soorarai Pottru. Soorarai Pottru, which also won Best Screenplay is now being remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan in lead roles.

A singer called Nanjamma won the award for the Best Playback Singer for the Malayalam film, Ayyapanum Koshiyum. Meanwhile, Aparna Balamurali, who was last seen in Veetla Visesham is working on a number of projects including, Ula, Padmini and Sundari Gardens. Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli was last seen in Payanigal Gavanikavum.
