Amala Paul Trolled For “Exposing Too Much”!

This has been going around for a while now – the idea of trolling someone when they wear something that makes them comfortable, especially actresses. Shruti Haasan was recently body-shamed for gaining weight and actress Saranya Mohan was body-shamed for gaining weight [post pregnancy which natural for a new mother. Next in the row seems to be none other than Amala Paul who has been trolled and slut-shamed for wearing clothes that are apparently “too short” and “immoral” although we have no idea how the length of a piece of cloth decides a woman’s morality and dignity.

In her social media, the actress posted a gorgeous picture of herself with an empowering caption that said, “I survived because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me.” The words, however, have been completely ignored as the picture has drawn the attention of numerous trolls who believe Amala shouldn’t be “displaying” her body to get attention.

From pointing out that she has “public responsibilities also” to reminding her that she’s a divorced woman (a marriage that she chose to call off), the comments on the pictures from men and women are yet another example of the misogyny that women in the entertainment industry are subjected to.

However, these are nothing compared to the other comments that called her out as a “sex worker”. One almost complimented her to only degrade her more. The individual said that for strong roles that she chooses to do, exposing this much skin isn’t “good”. There was also advice on what kind of photos it was okay for a woman to share, with a commenter noting that these photographs should be for private viewing only.

Another prescribed “saree or chudi (SalwarKameez)” as the acceptable dress code for public pictures because Amala was already “married and divorced”. The fact that audience support an actress’ choice of clothing onscreen by saying it’s just a movie completely changes when that same actress chooses to wear the so-called “glamorous clothes” outside of cinema and gets trolled by the same audience in return.

The hypocrisy and misogyny get infinite as days pass by and people say feminism isn’t important!
