Amala Paul To Star In Mahesh Bhatt’s Web Series?

Amala Paul could be yet another major film star to take her talents to the world of web series according to varied unconfirmed reports.

Sources say that the highly decorated actress may have joined the cast of an untitled web series produced by veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. If true, she will be tasked with portraying the late Parveen Babi, an actress whose career spanned almost two decades, from 1973 to 1991.

Mahesh Bhatt confirmed the production of this web series in December 2019 with a tweet from his official account, in which he stated “A perfect beginning.Happy partnering with @jiostudios on our digital debut!A dramatic webseries based in 70s Bollywood exploring the relationship of a struggling filmmaker & a top actress of that era!The greatest location in the world is the human heart.” The immediate speculation following this tweet was that the story would be based on Mahesh Bhatt’s own relationship with the former leading lady.

This would not be the first project Mahesh Bhatt is involved in that deals with bringing the life of Parveen Babi to the screen; he earlier wrote and produced the 2006 movie Who Lamhe, starring KangnaRanaut and Shiney Ahuja, which is supposedly based on her life and relationship with the filmmaker also.

Even if Amala Paul is not included in this project, her fans have a lot to look forward to this year. After a 2018 and 2019 where she acted in only 3 movies, including the smash hits Ratsasan and Aadai, her 2020 includes 4 projects.

She will next be seen on the big screen in the action thriller AdhoAndhaParavai Pola, directed by debutant Vinoth K. R. The trailer just hit YouTube yesterday, and was extremely well received by viewers.

She will later be seen in Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Aadujeevitham in Mollywood, and has also been confirmed as a cast member in the Telugu remake of 2018 Netflix anthology movie Lust Stories, where she is rumoured to play Kiara Advani’s character from the original.
