It shook all of the film fraternity and fans when reports claimed that Akhil Akkineni decided to call off his wedding. The darling boy of Amala Akkineni, Akhil had been dating Shriya Bhupal for two years before they confessed their love to parents. The engagement ceremony was a royal affair and it was attended by about 200 odd guests consisting family members and friends of the film and business fraternity.

The event also had Anup and playback singer Ankit Tiwari performing.The engagement ceremony had some A-listers on the guest list. From Shilpa Reddy to Samantha, many graced the ceremony of the duo.

The couple had planned to have a destination wedding in Italy. About 600 guests were expected to fly to the wedding destination.Although the families have not released any official statements, sources close to them claim that the wedding has indeed been called off.
