After So Many Years, I Learnt Something Important: Andrea Jeremiah!

Flashback interview with Andrea!

She is neither here to make a point, nor is she in a hurry to make the world see her work. Andrea Jeremiah is very clear that she wants to explore herself and the roles she wants to play. And by roles, she doesn’t mean the on-screen ones. In a spontaneous conversation, the ravishing artist, speaks to Janani Sampath about the various hats she has effortlessly donned and the realms she intends to experiment

Looking like a million bucks, she is quite poised to take on all the roles she dons at one go, but she is not setting limits for either of them. That is Andrea Jeremiah for you. She has been in the film industry for four years and a little more, but Andrea has been taking it as it comes, without taking any hasty strides. Confident and open to options, the tall and attractive artist is not hesitant to admit that she has always had one foot outside the industry.

“And after So many years, I have to have learned something or I’d have to be the world’s greatest imbecile!”

Andrea’s acting career came under the spotlight when she paired with Sarath Kumar in the 2007 thriller Pachaikili Muthucharam. She played a homemaker in the role that was initially offered to Simran and Tabu. She received immense recognition critical acclaim for her portrayal of Kalyani. Since then there has been no looking back for the actor. Yet, she has kept a low profile and hasn’t hit headlines, but maintained that is the way she likes things to be. After close to four years in the industry, has she learnt anything that you think would help you in the long run?

“Long run to where? The entertainment industry is the same everywhere; different people, different languages, different work styles, but ultimately, the core principles are the same! But there are some industry tricks I have not learned and I’m glad for it. I don’t believe in gimmicks, and I don’t believe in shortcuts. I may be flawed, but those flaws are ME and not some personality. I’ve concocted to please the world. I have lost fragments of myself and been lucky enough to find them again. And I think that if I can only hold on to this, this more than anything is what will help me in the long (or short) run!”
