Trisha was trolled and abused badly on the social media for her association with an animal rights Organisation called ‘PETA’. She received a lot of hatred as PETA has got a Supreme court ban for the Tamil sport ‘Jallikattu’. Trisha is an animal lover and has engaged herself with many animal rights organisations and PETA is one among them. Trisha had never voiced against ‘Jallikattu’ but she was misunderstood by few netizens that her association with PETA meant that she is against ‘Jallikattu’.
On Saturday, a tweet by Trisha that said “I’m a Tamilian and I support @peta @petaindia cruelty to animals no matter how old the traditions are is no justification. #BanJallikattu.” caused a lot of trouble for the actress that her social media pages flooded with abusive comments. Immediately after which she deleted the post and said that her account was hacked and she had alerted the authoritities too. Nothing seemed to change and Trisha deactivated her Twitter handle.
Her Whatsapp DP also says ‘DND’ and the actress at present is not available on any of the social media platforms.
Her current project ‘Garjani’ faced issues in its shooting spot at Sivagangai district as protesters demanded Trisha to come out of her vanity van where she took refuge.
After all this had happened, the actress issued a press release that said ““I have never spoken against Jallikattu at any point. I am a proud Tamilian by birth and I believe and respect in Tamil culture and tradition. I would never go against the sentiments of my own people who had been instrumental in my growth and stature.”
“She has been a dog lover since she was a child, and PETA associated with her for a photo shoot to adopt strays. That’s where her association with the organisation ends. We are Tamilians and we are not against Jallikattu.”, explained Mrs.Uma Krishnan in her complaint.
