Actor Prathap Pothen who has acted in many films like Varumayin Niram Sivappu, Panneer Pushpangal, and Vetri Vizha has breathed his last today. He was found dead in his apartment in Chennai today morning. He has acted in many languages including Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi.

The reason for his demise is still not clear. Speculations are that he might have suffered ill health for long, before breathing his last this morning. Born in August 13, 1952, he lost his father Kolathinkal Pothan at a young age of 15 years. After completing his schooling  Lawrence School, Lovedale in Ooty, he joined Madras Christian College for his graduation.

He was married to actress Raadhika for a year. He later remarried Amala Sathyanath. They divorced in 2012 after 22 years of marriage. They have a daughter called Keya. His passing away is a great loss for the Indian film industry.
