The couple has conveyed their thanks for all the congratulatory messages from the public. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public,” wrote Kensington Palace’s official Twitter account.
Queen Elizabeth II will be the baby’s great-grandmother, and the child will be her eighth great-grandchild. The royal couple is expecting their first child almost five months since their royal wedding which took place on May 19 this year. The pair is currently in Australia for a two-week tour.
American actress Meghan (nee Markle) and Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, got married on May 19 in the presence of 600 guests in the most royal way possible. Their romance began in 2016 when a mutual friend of theirs set them up on a blind date.
Her wedding dress, made of double-bonded silk cady cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza with a boat neckline, was designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller at Givenchy. Her makeup was minimal with her hair tied in a bun and her veil held up by the English tiara ‘the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau’ which features diamonds set in platinum that was made in 1932 also features a detachable brooch in the centre made of ten diamonds dating back to 1893.
The happening wedding had guests including Meghan’s friend and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra dressed in a lilac custom-made Vivienne Westwood single-breasted blazer, barrister Amal Clooney with husband George Clooney, Tennis player Serena Williams, talk show host Oprah Winfrey, David and Victoria Beckham, and several others.
