Pushpa 1, also called Pushpa: The Rise, was a massive pan-Indian hit film of last year. The movie fared extremely well in the Tollywood box office, and also performed pretty well in other languages. Now, the director Sukumar, is busy working on Pushpa 2, called Pushpa: The Rule. Fahadh Faasil is all set to have more screen time in this film, as his character was just introduced in the first film.

There were also reports that Vijay Sethupathi was roped in to be a part of this film. This report came after Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi starred together in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram, co-starring Kamal Haasan. However, there has been no official confirmation yet from the film’s team. Now the latest buzz is that a National Award Winning actress is in talks to be roped in as Vijay Sethupathi’s pair in the film.

The star is none other than Priyamani, who won the National Award for her performance in Ameer’s Paruthiveeran. While Vijay Sethupathi is most likely to play a negative role, it is expected that she will be playing his pair. This announcement is awaited from Mythri Movie Makers, the production house. Meanwhile, Priyamani is currently filming for Atlee’s Jawan, co-starring Nayanthara and Shah Rukh Khan.

The first film depicts the rise of a coolie (Allu Arjun) in the smuggling syndicate of red sandalwood, a rare wood that grows only in the Seshachalam Hills of Andhra Pradesh state. The movie’s music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, who became famous for Oo Antava starring Samantha. Allu Arjun and Rashmika are all set to reprise their roles in the second film as well and this film is expected to release in the second half of 2023.
