Pa Ranjith who saw success after the release of Natchathiram Nagargiradhu has now started shooting for his next film starring Vikram. This marks the 61st film of the national award-winning actor and is currently titled ‘Chiyaan 61’. While the shoot has started, the movie is supposedly set in the Kolar Gold Fields, the place KGF was set in. Previously, there were reports that Rashmika was to be roped in to be the leading lady of the film. Now, speculations are that a Mollywood actress is likely to be roped in.

Gossip circles reveal that Parvathy Thiruvothu is most likely to play the female lead in the film. Some reports further suggest that the actress has already begun shooting for the film in Kadappa, Andhra Pradesh, along with Vikram and the rest of the cast. While the makers are still silent about this information, the possibility of Parvathy and Vikram being seen onscreen as a couple is creating quite the gaga amongst audiences.

As mentioned earlier, it was previously speculated that Rashmika was the play the leading lady. However, the Goodbye actress apparently backed out because of a tight and busy schedule. On the other hand, Malavika Mohanan was also apparently offered the role. This rumour has still not died down. So, this has also introduced new speculations that the movie could have two female leads, instead of one. All said and done, we have to wait till the official announcement is out, to confirm anything.

Ranjith revealed that the film is to be set in the Kolar Gold Fields or KGF during the British rule, and is reportedly about how Tamils contributed to the building of this legendary town. He said that the film contains a huge star-cast and that the official announcement will follow soon.  As per the reports, the untitled project will be shot in 3D. The makers are planning to release Chiyaan 61 as a pan-Indian release in five languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.

On the work front, Parvathy was last seen in Puzhu co-starring Mammootty. She is filming for Her, Ullozhukku and Lallanna’s Song, all in Malayalam. Rashmika, on the other hand, just saw the release of Goodbye and is doing Vijay’s Varisu, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rule. She is meanwhile awaiting the release of Mission Majnu in Hindi. Malavika Mohanan, who was last seen in Maaran, is now working on Yudhra and might most probably also be roped in for Chiyaan 61.
