The Movies
Trisha entered the Malayalam film industry with Hey Jude this year. This was a light-hearted romantic drama film and Trisha shared the screen with Nivin Pauly. Directed by Shyamaprasad, the two leads played oddballs and the movie was about the interesting situations that happen because of their relationship, and how love and understanding transform Jude’s life. Trisha received positive reviews for her performance in the movie.
Her first release in Tamil for 2018 was Mohini and Trisha played dual roles in it. However, the movie did not do well in the box office. This horror flick revolves around a maleficent spirit that is out with a vengeance and cannot be stopped just like the heroine who is portraying it. It was directed by Raman Madhesh of Arsangam fame and also stared Jacky Bhagnani on his Tamil debut.
Things changed for Trisha after 96 released. Proving to be quite the blockbuster with many lauding how the movie was the story of their lives, Trisha’s year was made and with her restraint but underplayed performance as Jaanu, many hearts were won. Playing Jaanu aka Janaki Devi, Trisha gave an earnest performance with many calling it her most memorable film. Her clothes in the movie – a simple yellow kurta, light blue jeans, and blue silk stole was a big hit among her fans. In fact, clothing showrooms in the city started selling the ‘Jaanu’ look. This romantic drama had Vijay Sethupathy play the male lead. The film is written and directed by Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom fame C Prem Kumar and produced by Nandagopal of Madras Enterprises. Govind Menon has composed music, with cinematography by N Shanmuga Sundaram and editing by R Govindaraj.
