Sridevi, who died of accidental drowning in February last year, is likely to have a movie made on her. Her husband, producer Boney Kapoor, is reportedly set to direct the movie too. The film will be a different take on Sridevi’s life, something that only he will be able to do as he knew her so well.

Incidentally, this wouldn’t be the first time the late actress is being commemorated. Ever since her death, she has been remembered many times with even a few books on her in the pipeline though nothing is confirmed. And amidst all this, an unauthorised biopic on the actress might be in the works with ‘wink girl’ Priya Prakash Varrier playing a Bollywood actress named Sridevi in the film Sridevi Bungalow.

Sridevi has been honoured posthumously several times including winning a National Award for her performance in Mom, an IIFA award for her performance in the same as well as an honorary mention at the Cannes Film Festival. And has had several artists creating her on murals and canvas including an 18-foot tall mural based on her done in Bandra, Mumbai.

Switzerland tourism is also considering building a statue in honour of the late actress. It should be noted that Chandni, a popular Hindi film of hers, was shot in Switzerland and fared very well in the country and popularised it further among the Indians.

In fact, in the film NTR Kathanayakudu, Rakul Preet plays the late actress. Sridevi has acted opposite late Telugu superstar NTR (Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao) in several hit movies like Vetagadu, Bobbilipuli andKondaveeti Simham. 

Sridevi Boney Kapoor died on February 24 last year at the age of 54 due to a case of accidental drowning in Dubai. Her death left many heartbroken considering she was, despite acting in fewer films, still considered a reigning queen in Indian cinema. Her elder daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, is now acting in Bollywood. She has already made her debut in the Karan Johar-produced film Dhadak. She has Takht and biopic on Gunjan Saxena in the pipeline.
