96 Out On TV Soon; Trisha Protests

It’s been less than a month since it’s release!

It’s been less than a month and the film ’96’ has been announced that it will be telecasted on SunTV. Since SunTV has bagged the satellite rights, the film will be screened for Diwali and this did not go down well with lead actress of the film Trisha.

Taking to Twitter, she implored SunTV to give the film more time and consider it for a Pongal release instead. “Its our 5th week and we still have an 80% occupancy in all theatres. We as a team feel its unfair to be premiering 96 this early. [sic]”

The film had an October 4 release. Directed by C Premkumar, the film stars Vijay Sethupathi as Ram and Trisha Krishnan as Jaanu in the lead. The film is about two childhood sweethearts who reunite after decades and they pick up from where they left things. The film has been a critical and commercial success, with many lauding the film’s simple story and the two lead actors.
