9 South Indian Celebrities Who Died Young!

Tollywood consists of power-packed performers and superstars. During this journey of success, the industry has lost many of its super talented actors. Here are top 10 actors we completely regret losing:

 

Uday Kiran: He was talented, young and absolutely good-looking. He debuted in the film ‘Chitram’ which was a superhit movie. Following ‘Chitram’, ‘Nuvvu Nenu’ and ‘Manasantha Nuvve’ were blockbusters. He won the Best Actor Award for his Telugu flick ‘Nuvvu Nenu’ in the year 2001. After these hattrick blockbusters, he didn’t do much well, which kept him away from the limelight. Uday committed suicide on January 5th, 2014 due to a financial crisis and marital issues. He reportedly hanged himself from the ceiling of his Sri Nagar colony apartment in Hyderabad. His death came across as a shockwave as he was a very famous, young and emerging hero.

 

 

Silk Smitha: Silk Smitha (aka) Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati is a Telugu born actress who has acted in more than 450 films in languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. She became a super famous sex symbol and was named an erotic heroine in the 1980s. She was named ‘Silk’ after her performance in the Tamil flick ‘Vandichakaram’. Her performances were called ‘sexual’ and ‘softcore’. However, her acting prowess didn’t go unnoticed. She was praised for her acting abilities in the movies ‘Alaigal Oyvadhillai’ and ‘Moodram Pirai’. Silk Smitha committed suicide in the year 1996 in her Chennai apartment. Financial crisis, yearning for love and alcohol overdose led her to depression which has reportedly led her to commit suicide.

 

Soundarya: Soundarya’s first film in Telugu was ‘Rajendrudu Gajendrudu’ alongside Rajendra Prasad in the year 1993. Fame shook hands with her when she acted a commercial film ‘Hello Brother alongside Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna and Ramyakrishna. The film was a blockbuster in the year 1994. In 1997, she continued her success with ‘Pelli Chesukundam’, ‘Maa Aayana Bangaram’, ‘Osi Na Maradala’, and ‘Aaro Pranam’, winning acclaim from all over the industry for her performances. She also starred alongside Kollywood Superstar Rajinikanth in ‘Arunachalam’, which became the highest-grossing film of 1997 in Tamil. Soundarya is popular for her great and humble personality. Her death was shocking and absolutely saddening. She died in a plane crash in the year 2004 while she was on her way to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She was pregnant when she died.

 

 

Divya Bharathi: Actress Divya Bharathi debuted in Telugu film ‘Bobbili Raja’ in the year 1990 at the age of 16. After her successful film career in Tollywood, she moved to Bollywood to act alongside Govinda and Rishi Kapoor in movies like ‘Deewana’ and ‘Shola aur Shabnam’. She even won a Filmfare Award for the Best Female Debut. She also made a record of acting in around 14 Hindi films in a span of one year (1993-1994). She died at the age of 19 succumbing to head injuries due to falling off from her apartment’s balcony. The investigation was closed as her parents informed told the police that it was an accident. However, no one really knows if it was an accident, a suicide or a murder.

 

Aarthi Agarwal: The elder of Aditi Agarwal and a Tollywood actress, Aarthi Agarwal debuted in the Telugu film ‘Nuvvu Naaku Nachav’ alongside Chiranjeevi. Despite being a non-Telugu speaking actress, she acted with top notch Tollywood superstars like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, Mahesh Babu, Ravi Teja and Junior NTR. In 2005, the actress attempted suicide and was taken to Apollo Hospital for treatment. In 2007, she married Tasval Kumar, an Indian-Origin Software Engineer settled in the United States. She later divorced him in the year 2009. She settled down with her parents then. In the year 2015, Aarthi was declared dead due to Cardiac Arrest. The reason behind the tragedy was liposuction which gave her a lot of breathing issues.

 

 

Yasho Sagar: The Telugu film ‘Ullasamga Utsahamga’ fame actor Yasho Sagar became famous as ‘Aravind’ in the year 2008. The movie also starring Sneha Ullal was a blockbuster. The son of Kannada film  producer B.P. Somu, was killed in a car accident along with his two friends in the year 2012.

 

 

Prathyusha: At the age of 17, actress Prathyusha entered the film industry and won the hearts of many with her beautiful smile. She debuted in the Telugu film ‘Rayudu’ in the year 1998. She also acted in several Tamil flicks and received appreciation for her good acting skills. In the year 2002, Prathyusha committed suicide along with her boyfriend Siddhartha Reddy, as their families disagreed to their marriage proposal. According to reports, they mixed poison in Coca Cola and were rushed to Care Hospital. While her boyfriend survived, Prathyusha died during surgery. There have been rumours that she was killed by manual strangulation but nothing had been confirmed and the case was closed.

 

 

Achyuth: The ‘Thammudu’ fame supporting actor Achyuth had acted over 50 films and 50 television serials. He was very popular for his supporting roles. The Telugu movie ‘Thammudu’, where he acted as Tollywood star Pawan Kalyan’s brother, gained him a lot of recognition. He died in the year 2002 due to a massive heart attack leaving behind a great mark in the Tollywood and Television industries.

 

 

Bhargavi: In 2006, Actress Bhargavi debuted in the Telugu film ‘Devadasu’ directed by YVS Chowdhary which gained her a lot of recognition. However, her film ‘Ashta Chamma’ was a blockbuster in the box office. Being a Television serial star, she became more famous when she hosted a TV show named Ammamma.com produced by Just Yellow. In the year 2008, she was murdered along with her orchestra troop operator Praveen Kumar. The mystery behind her murder is still unknown.
