7 South Heroines We Dearly Miss And Want Them Back On-Screen!

There have been so many heroines who have entered film industry and left and hardly a handful have left a lasting impression us. These heroines are among the handful and we loved them when the ruled the industry for a certain amount of time. These extremely popular actresses have quit acting and now lead a simple glam-free life. But, nevertheless, we miss our icons and want them back on-screen! 

 

SIMRAN

Simran who ruled the 90’s movie scenario with her acting and dancing skills gave many hit movies. She has acted with almost all top stars during the 90’s. She took a break from movies after her marriage and entered the Television industry. She hosted popular TV shows like Jackpot in Jaya TV. She made a comeback into movies with Gautam Menon’s Vaaranam Aayiram in 2008. Currently she serves as a judge in the reality show Dance Tamizha Dance in Zee Tamizh.

Richa Gangopadhyay

This talented actor gave back to back hits with Mayakkam Enna and Osthi. Her character in Mayakkam Enna was very challenging and she was widely appreciated for her role. She was last seen in Osthi opposite Simbu but her performance in her debut film was the most critically acclaimed. Richa later went on to do quite a few Telugu films after which she was nowhere to be seen.

Sherin Shringar

Sherin debuted into Tamil film industry alongside Dhanush in the film Thulluvadho Ilamai. The film which featured the mind-set of young school kids received mixed reviews among critics. Of all her other films which included Jaya, Student No.1, Whistle and Urchagam, her performance oriented role in Whistle was the most critically acclaimed. She was last seen in an item number with Vikram in Bheema after which she kept herself busy with films in other languages although she completely vanished from Kollywood.

RAMBHA

Rambha was very popular and had stiff competition when she entered the film industry. She made her breakthrough with the film Ullathai Allitha. After that she acted with almost all popular heroes of that time. She gave up films after her marriage to a businessman and is now settled in Canada with her kids. She did appear as a judge in the popular TV dance show Mannada Mayilada after quitting films.

MADHOO

Madhoo stole our hearts with movies like Roja, Gentleman and Iruvar. She has acted in a lot of Telugu, Malayam and Hindi films. She made a comeback into the film industry in 2014, with Vaayai Moodi Pesavum. She continues to appear as supporting actress in many Hindi films.

Chaya Singh

This Kannada debutante migrated into Tamil films with Thiruda Thirudi alongside Dhanush. People might have forgotten her character in the film but will never forget her electrifying dance in the most popular kuthu number of all time, Manmada Raasa. Although her films did not do very well in the box office, her item numbers with Vijay and Vikram gave her the appeal of a dancing diva. She was last seen in the horror flick Aanandhapurathu Veedu after which she disappeared from silver screen and tried her luck in soap operas.

NAGMA

Nagma who reigned the industry during the 90’s gave many hits in Tamil and Telugu! She acted in blockbusters like Kadhalan, Baasha and Gharana Mogudu. She now has an active political career with the Congress after joining the party in 2006. She has been campaigning extensively for the Congress in many states, especially in Maharashtra.
