Moumita Dutta, Project Manager, Mars Mission:
Once upon a time a postgraduate student who was very much interested in science, completed her M.Tech in Applied physics and is a successful project manager who handles the payload for the Mars Orbiter Mission. She is currently working as a team leader to make a visible progress in optical sciences under the ‘Make In India’ campaign. She, as a student, used to read about the Chandraayan mission and was absolutely fascinated since then.
Teachers who have tried to speak up say they’ve been threatened with poor experience certificates, deliberate delays in relieving letters, and even blacklisting among private schools in the city, all of which make it hard to find new employment.
Despite competing with five other candidates during the recruitment process, Jency was selected purely on merit.
With a capacity to house 25 residents at a time, most are allowed to stay for up to six months. However, some continue longer if they find jobs within the shelter or take up responsibilities like training others.
The youngest baby operated on was three hours old, while the smallest weighed 650 grams.
