The winners were finally announced on March 22, 2021, in a press conference at the National Media Centre, New Delhi. The full ceremony was available for streaming on PIB India’s Facebook page as well as the official YouTube channel.
This time, there were 461 films in the Feature Film category and 220 films in the Non-Feature Film category. In the most film-friendly states, there were entries from 13 states.
South Indian films have taken home some huge wins in 2019. Nani’s Jersey took home the Best Telugu Film while Dhanush’s Asuran took home the best Tamil Film award. Kalla Nottam won the Best Malayalam film award while Parthiban’s Oththa Seruppu won the special Jury Award. Viswasam’s music composed by Imman won the Best Music Award and Anna Ben’s Helen won an Award for impeccable editing and the best Debut film Award.

Dhanush bagged the Best Actor Award for Asuran along with Manji Bajpayee for Bhosale. Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi won the Best Supporting Actor for his brilliant performance as Shilpa in the film Super Deluxe.
