Kids of actors and filmmakers from the entertainment industry have long been revered as the next-gen in cinema. It’s been going on for decades, where a star’s little one chooses the same path. This has also caused a debate on nepotism, something that was popularised after the infamous Kangana Ranaut-Karan Johar spat on his show.
But this needn’t necessarily be a bad thing. Like Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, a lot of these star kids have already proved their mettle with their acting prowess. The next crop of star kids, however, look equally promising and here are some of them to look out for!
Janhvi Kapoor
Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of producer Boney and late actress Sridevi Kapoor, is all of 21 and has already made quite a debut on screen. Playing the lead role in the Hindi remake of the Marathi film ‘Sairat’, ‘Dhadak’ proved to be a film that got her another acting offer and so many opportunities to be the showstopper at fashion events. Already known to be quite a fashionista, Janhvi has fans everywhere and it’s no surprise that there’s much more to see of this millennial.

Sara Ali Khan
Daughter of actress Amrita Singh and actor Saif Ali Khan, Sara Ali Khan is all of 25 and many have been speculating her acting debut for a while. However, in 2017, it was announced that she has ‘Kedarnath’ in the pipeline, starring alongside Sushant Singh Rajput. And while the film’s trailer was released recently, she has already nearly finished shooting her second film – a biggie with Ranveer Singh titled ‘Simbaa’. And it’s not as though acting offers have not been pouring for her. She’s also being dubbed as the next best thing in Bollywood, especially when her contemporaries include Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Pandey, and others.
Kalyani Priyadarshan
Daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan and actress Lissy, Kalyani made her acting debut in the Telugu film ‘Hello’ which turned out to fare pretty well. She earlier worked as an assistant director in the Vikram-Nayanthara film Iru Mugan. Now, she has three films in the pipeline including one with another star kid Pranav Mohanlal!
Pranav Mohanlal
Pranav Mohanlal, son of veteran Malayalam actor Mohanlal, made his acting debut in Jeethu Joseph’s film titled ‘Aadhi’. Needless to say, the film was quite a success and he earned fans pretty quickly. More than his acting, people were amazed with the parkour stunts he performed. In the pipeline, he has two other films including ‘Marakkar : Arabikadalinte Simham’ with another star kid Kalyani.
Aryan & Suhana Khan
Aryan Khan, the son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan and interior designer Gauri Khan, has not signed any film but filmmakers and fans predict that his acting debut is not too far behind. Already regarded as someone with quite the swagger, there are rumours that he might make his debut with another star kid, Khushi Kapoor – the younger daughter of late actress Sridevi Boney Kapoor.
Aryan’s younger sister, Suhana Khan, has made quite a few heads turn with her modelling prowess. Featured on the cover of Vogue magazine, the 18-year-old is super popular on social media but she hasn’t professed any acting projects in the near future.
