Priyanka Chopra turns 36-years-old today and boy has she achieved quite a lot in such a short period of time! She has come a long way from being the doe-eyed, vibrant girl from Jamshedpur, to being a pageant winner, a top Bollywood actress, singer, and finally making her presence felt international, too. From being crowned Miss World at the young age of 17 to now having her own American TV series and producing films, in addition to inspiring many to achieve more as well as be more proactive in social work, there’s nothing that stops PC!

When PC won the coveted crown for India

When PC won second at the Miss India title, no one thought that she would end up winning the ultimate Miss World title. And she did! She was the fifth Indian contestant to win Miss World, and the fourth to do so in seven years. Needless to say, the crown brought her recognition and hasn’t stopped since then.

PC made her on-screen debut in Vijay’s film

She was all set to star in a Bollywood film but got recast due to reasons unknown. Hence, she made her on-screen debut with the Tamil film Thamizhan starring along with Vijay. Not only did she act, she also sang in the film. While the film was a hit, many felt PC was a good fit but did very little acting. But that didn’t stop her still.

A National Film Award for ‘Fashion’

This film was a total game changer for PC. While she went on to star in numerous films, she still struggled to deliver that one film that really proved her acting prowess. Enter Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion and there’s been no stopping her. She went on to win several awards including National Film Award for Best Actress, the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, the IIFA Award for Best Actress, the Screen Award for Best Actress, and the Producers Guild Film Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Singing career

While many knew that PC could sing, no one knew she could sing that phenomenally! Her first single was ‘In My City’ where she sang about India and sang along with The Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am. She also went on to sing another single, ‘Exotic’ featuring Pitt Bull. That was a hit, too. Chopra collaborated with the Australian DJ Will Sparks for “Young and Free”, an EDM song which she also wrote. It was released last year.

Hollywood debut and international fame

She got her own American TV series called Quantico that went on for three seasons. In addition to that, she also starred in Baywatch and A Kid Like Jake. She has other projects, too, and let’s not forget the Oscar and Met Gala appearances that she’s made. Truly, this ‘desi’ girl is taking India to the world!
