5 Memorable Characters From Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Career

A Look At His Mega Movies!

Mega stardom, Mega movies and a star who defines larger than life phenomenon; Chiranjeevi and his career can’t be inked down in this story! He ruled the Telugu film industry for over 40 years, first as a villian and then as the prince of every girl’s dreams. His 150th movie is hitting the floors and we are just as excited as you are. It’s not fair to choose one among those 149 characters, but we would like to pick the ones we loved a tiny bit more than the others.

Born in a simple middle class family of a police constable in Andhra, Chiranjeevi had always dreamed of being an actor. He arrived in Madras (Now Chennai) and joined the Madras Film Institute to learn acting. There was no looking back and he is now one of the most successful stars in India. Here’s a look at some of his memorable roles we will always love.

Sooryam in Khaidi

chiranjeevi article 1

Though Chiru acted as a villain and a protagonist in many films prior to Khaidi, this was his first blockbuster. In this 1983 movie, he plays the role of Sooryam, a young and passionate boy who is wrongly convicted of murdering his little sister. His escape from prison and his revenge is a story well-narrated. Khaidi raked in 15 million and during the 80s that was a lot of box office collection  any movie could garner! Sooryam’s transformation is nothing less than of a Super man! This should be in you must-watch list if you’re a huge megastar fan. Thank us later 😉

Raju in Gharana Mogudu

chiranjeevi article 2

Oh my! We still can’t stop humming to Bangaru Kodi Petta even after two decades. Nagma and Chiranjeevi’s spicy fights and rivalry in this movie are still spoken about. Chiranjeevi plays the role of Raju, a down-to-earth and a fun loving guy who saves his colleagues from the wrath of a stubborn, headstong boss; Nagma! Their love-hate story is packed with tons and tons of chemistry! We quite miss the evergreen Chiraneevi-Nagma jodi!

Raju in Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari

chiranjeevi article 4

Another pair we miss very much! Sridevi and Chiranjeevi’s chemistry in Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari was perfect! Chiranjeevi plays Raju, a caretaker of orphaned kids who accidentally meets Indraja ( the daughter of Lord Indra) and the immortal love story unfolds. Chiranjeevi’s boy-next-door character was an instant hit and the movie was declared a blockbuster.

Madhava Rao in Hitler

chiranjeevi article 5

For many years Chiranjeevi played a villain in his movies and then evolved into the hero and protagonist! However, in Hitler fans went nostalgic when he played the role of a strict and protective bother of four sisters who could kill for them. Rambha was riding high on her success and a movie with megastar was just what she needed to achieve the stardom she did! His knee-break dance moves were quickly the best moves in South India! Every wedding was incomplete without his signature moves from Hitler. Nadaka Kalisina Navratri is a super catchy song!!!!

Shankar Narayana/ Indrasena Reddy in Indra

chiranjeevi article 3

Indra is one of the biggest hits of megastar’s career. The story was based in the backdrop of political feud and lot of bloodshed in Rayalaseema. It was released at a right time! Chiranjeevi joined politics right after Indra and all his fans were expecting it too. “Veera shankar reddy, mokke kada ani pikite, pika kosta!!” This dialogue was from Indra and is considered one of the best in Tollywood. Indra was one movie which not only ascertained that Chiranjeevi is the best dancer in Tollywood but also that he’s the best actor we have has in a long time!
