5 Controversies South Indian Actresses Got Into!

Celebrities who are in the limelight often are often into controversies because of one or the other reason. We are not sure if they love controversies or controversies love them. But it’s quite obvious how an individual’s personal opinion becomes an issue and is often questioned for their idea or belief. In a country with freedom of opinion and freedom of expression, statements by actresses are often publicized and a lot of drama happens. Here are a few personal opinions of South Indian actresses that resulted in controversies!

Kushboo

Actress Kushboo was one of the first South Indian actresses who faced flaming opposition from the public for her bold statement about ‘Pre-marital sex’. In an AIDS awareness program, she said that pre-marital sex was fine when pregnancy and STD precautions are taken. The public couldn’t take her statement and found it as a bad influence for the youngsters. A number of cases were filed against her for obscenity but nothing lasted as the court as the Madras High Court had accepted the concept of pre-marital sex.

Nayanthara

Nayanthara has been a favourite for ‘Controversies’ and she made it to the headlines frequently. Right from her relationship with Prabhu Deva, both her professional and personal life has been controversial. She received a lot of hatred when her intimate pictures with ex-boyfriend Simbhu were leaked on the internet. Though it is a private affair, the media was keen about finding details about their relationship. But the actress moved on and even acted a film with the same actor after few years.

Shruthi Haasan

Being the child of actor Kamal Haasan who was called the favourite child of controversy, how can she escape controversies! Shruthi Haasan has been into controversies about her relationship with Sidharth, fight with ex-step-mother Gautami in the sets of Sabhash Naidu and many others. But the most talked about was her statement about Gautami that led to many other controversies. In an interview, she said ” When my mother Sarika is there why should I call Gouthami as my mother!”. This led to misinterpretations that Shruthi is not fond of Gautami and aslo thatshe is the reason for her parents’ split.

Ramya

Actress and Congress member Ramya (Divya Spandana) faced hatred when she made statements against the Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s statement about Pakistan. After his return from Pakistan, he equated visiting Pakistan with visiting hell. While she said something opposite after she had returned from Pakistan. ” I respectfully disagree, but Pakistan is not hell,” said the actress. Cases were filed against her for which she boldly responded, ” It’s really sad that there is such a situation in the country today. Politicians want to polarise and spread hatred. Just because borders separate us we shouldn’t hate others”.

Trisha

Though Trish did not make any controversial statement by herself, people presumed things and it is pretty well-known today how she has been slammed by few social media users. Actress Trisha is an animal lover and has contributed a lot to animal welfare and rights. Similarly, she is also associated with PETA(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), an NGO for animal rights. PETA India obtained a Supreme Court ban on ‘Jallikattu’, a sport that involves bulls. Despite Trisha’s silence over this issue, people presumed that Trisha is against ‘Jallikattu’ and abused her with memes and trolls. The ruckus had reached the level of Trisha deactivating her Twitter handle and going on a ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode. The actress clearly stated that she was never against ‘Jallikattu’ and would never hurt the feelings of her state people.

Trisha’s recent press release:

“This is to inform the general public that i have been deeply troubled and defamed for no fault of mine over the last week regarding the jallikattu issue. I made my stance very clear on my social networking account yesterday that i have never been against or opposed jallikattu. I am a proud  Tamilian by birth and i believe and respect in Tamil culture and tradition and would never go against the sentiments of my own people who had been instrumental in my growth and stature. But i am deeply hurt at the disrespect and flithy language being used towards me and the people who supported me,by some vested interest. In the  midst of me doing damage control and making my stance clear,my twitter account was hacked and a tweet was sent out putting me in very insensitive light and hurting my fellow Tamilians. This effort by them to detach me from the Tamil audience whom I value much will not happen . Iam very confident on this. Considering the gravity of the issue i immediately reset my password and deactivated my account until the higher authorities get involved. I type this out with a lot of hurt and pain  i assure from the bottom of my heart that iam never against my own people and keep  wondering why anyone would go through such an extent to defame me and put me in bad light. However i thank my fellow colleagues and well wishers for the support meted out to me through this harrowing time.i wish everyone a wonderful pongal and hope this makes my stance very clear, once for all.”
